Life after SXSW… The Big Pink, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, King Khan, A Place to Bury Strangers, Auto Body

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Having a few weeks to recover physically and financially from SXSW, I’m ready and excited about April.  Hockey kicked the month off at Emo’s last Friday and this week begins tonight (Monday the 5th) with King Khan and the Shrines at Emo’s.  Thursday (4/8) is The Big Pink w/ A Place to Bury Strangers at the Parish.  This is the first time to my knowledge that the Big Pink has played a headlining show in Austin, and it should be one not to miss and with A Place to Bury Strangers opening I’m sure this show will sellout.  Kind of surprising to see these two bands on the same bill, A Place to Bury Strangers are the Brooklyn 3 piece that will have your ears ringing for days from their face melting industrial shoegaze.   While the Big Pink are London friends with their own style of electro-rock that will seem tame (and quiet) after the openers.

Friday (4/9) head back to the Parish for Auto Body’s EP release party these guys have a legit shot and making it big.  Car Stereo Wars and Prepmode support so be sure to wear your dancin shoes, do not miss this dance party.   Girl Talk plays a free show at UT Saturday evening under the tower on the main mall, White Denim opens nuff said.   Yeasayer starts his 2 days at La Zona Rosa on Saturday.  Oh yeah couple bands are in town this weekend too Vampire Weekend and Camera Obscura.

RAA_01The weekend has arrived, make your way to the Parish tonight for The Rural Alberta Advantage the Canadian Indie rockers are playing tonight and shouldn’t be missed.  Their debut album Hometowns dropped last year and placed them on the radar in the wonderful world of Canadian Indie.  Grab their track below.

The Rural Alberta Advantage – Frank AB

Saturday – Beauty Bar

El Ten Eleven will amaze and entertain you in a way only they can.  The L.A. post-rock duo are absolutely wonderful in the way they create a wall of sound with their double neck guitars and multiple effect pedals.  Saw them last time they played at Beauty Bar and am truly sad to missout tomorrow as I’m in Dallas.
