To start off America’s birthday weekend full of Post Rock Gods, San Marvelous’ This Will Destroy You kick it off Thursday at Mohawk. After Thursday they’re off for a European tour so can’t miss them. Watching the video makes me so happy I have Friday off and live in Austin. Explosions in the Sky play Saturday at Stubbs and Gifts From Enola and Calm Blue Sea are Sunday at Emos. A Post Rock fans wet dream.

This weekend starts off with Car Stereo Wars Farewell party at Beauty Bar. His last show before he leaves for NYC. Also Frank Smith is at Emo’s check the track below its alt-country rock folk or something like that. Also Mark Farina is playing at Pangaea. Saturday is Real Ale Fest in Blanco come drink free Fireman’s and hang out at the brewery that makes what gets you drunk. Saturday Night Belaire is at Mohawk and The Michael Jackson tribute party at Beauty Bar with DJ Mel. I hope to see gloves and hopefully his jacket from Thriller.

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009Camera Obscura the Scottish indie poppers were at Antone’s last night. They opened with the title track off their new album My Maudlin Career, and proceeded to be pretty slow and melancholic but they did finish strong. All in all a good show, but definetly should of gone to Santogold at Stubbs.
