Freelance Whales are my favorite band at the moment they have a unique sound and their debut album, Weathervanes is as solid as they come one of the best of 09 in my opinion. Octopus Project, Austin’s favorite Indie Electronic outfit, will be playing Mohawk Monday night along with All My Friends, Sunset, Neiliyo, and Markus (with a K). El Ten Eleven will amaze and entertain you in a way only they can. The L.A. post-rock duo are absolutely wonderful in the way they create a wall of sound with their double neck guitars and multiple effect pedals. Saw them last time they played at Beauty Bar and am truly sad to missout tomorrow as I’m in Dallas.

Emily Haines and her band Metric lived up to everyone’s expectations and then some last night. Initially walking up to La Zona Rosa and seeing the line I was rather surprised and happy to learn the show was soldout. Even with Cage the Elephant down the street and Del the Funky Homosapien and the Whigs in town, there was still a decent crowd of ticket seekers trying to get in. Throughout their hour and a half set full of favorites; Poster of a Girl, Help I’m Alive, Monster Hospital, Dead Disco, and encoring with an acoustic Combat Baby, Emily continued to bring an amazing energy to her brand of Indie Rock.
