Merry Christmas folks hope all had some good family time. Below are some tracks I’ve been playing lately. Freelance Whales are my favorite band at the moment they have a unique sound and their debut album, Weathervanes is as solid as they come one of the best of 09 in my opinion. Two of their tracks are below and the album is available on iTunes. Memory Tapes aka Dayve Hawk, new single Bicycle, a wavy cancion to put on your playlist. One more from our buddy Bassnectar – remake of the Pixies epic, Jesus thank you for Bassnectar.

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Octopus Project, Austin’s favorite Indie Electronic outfit, will be playing Mohawk Monday night along with All My Friends, Sunset, Neiliyo, and Markus (with a K). They recently played along with Voxtrot after Fun Fun Fun Fest and closed with the live debut of Wet Gold. Grab the Mp3 below and Tickets Here. The party is a celebration for Tibaut’s 30th birthday (aka DJ Thibault also half of Auto Body) he has some cool friends. Best Monday ever.

METRIC – Emily Haines Fucking Amazing Show
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
Emily Haines and her band Metric lived up to everyone’s expectations and then some last night. Initially walking up to La Zona Rosa and seeing the line I was rather surprised and happy to learn the show was soldout. Even with Cage the Elephant down the street and Del the Funky Homosapien and the Whigs in town, there was still a decent crowd of ticket seekers trying to get in. Throughout their hour and a half set full of favorites; Poster of a Girl, Help I’m Alive, Monster Hospital, Dead Disco, and encoring with an acoustic Combat Baby, Emily continued to bring an amazing energy to her brand of Indie Rock. Overall a wonderful show and I’m now completely smitten with Emily. My camera sucks so I’ve stolen these vids off youtube, credit to the uploaders. Go ahead and grab an acoustic Help I’m Alive
The weekend has arrived, make your way to the Parish tonight for The Rural Alberta Advantage the Canadian Indie rockers are playing tonight and shouldn’t be missed. Their debut album Hometowns dropped last year and placed them on the radar in the wonderful world of Canadian Indie. Grab their track below.
